Activities at the Mwalimu Nyerere International Convention Centre


H.E. Ambassador Juma Alfani Mpango, Dean of Diplomatic Corps who is also Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo to the United Republic of Tanzania was also in attendance at the Mwalimu Nyerere International Convention Centre for the key-handover ceremony of the Convention Centre built in support by the Chinese Government and the anticipated speech of President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China on Afro-Sino relations.

H.E. Ambassador Sinikka Antila of Finland to the United Republic of Tanzania was also among the guests.

H.E. Ambassador Yahya bin Moussa al Bakri (3rd right), Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Republic of Tanzania and H.E. Ambassador Tajammul Altaf (4th right), High Commissioner of Pakistan to the United Republic of Tanzania were also in attendance. 

Ambassador Charles A. Sanga (left), Chairman of Tanzania Tourism Board who also is a former Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the People's Republic of China was also in attendance together with Ambassador Mohammed Maundi, Director of the Tanzania-Mozambique Centre for Foreign Relations and a former Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania in Ethiopia. 

Notable guests included Dr. Asha-Rose Migiro, Member of the ruling party Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Secretariat Responsible for Foreign Affairs and former Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and Mr. Nape Nnauye, Executive Secretary of the State-Ideology and Publicity for Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM).

Also in attendance is Hon. Angela Kairuki (MP), Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, who is saying hello to one of the Officers from the Chinese Embassy here in Tanzania.

Tanzania, China sign Agreements; vow continued cooperation



The Governments of the United Republic of Tanzania and that of the People's Republic of China signed various Agreements, ushering more continued cooperation between the two governments.  

Below, are various photos capturing the signing ceremony that took place yesterday in the State House, Dar es Salaam.

William Mgimwa (MP) (seating right), Minister for Finance in the United Republic of Tanzania signing the following documents:  the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation between the Governments of the People’s Republic of China and the United Republic of Tanzania;   Exchange of Letters for Chinese Government Provision of a TV Broadcast Truck to Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC); Framework Agreement between the Governments of the People’s Republic of China and the United Republic of Tanzania on Provision of Concessional Loan by China to Tanzania (National ICT Broad Infrastructure Project (Phase III Sub-Phase 1); Signing on behalf of the Chinese Government is the Minister of Commerce.  Other on the photo is Mr. Ali Ubwa (standing right), Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Legal Unit).

Signing on behalf of the Chinese Government is Mr. Zhi Shuping, Director of AQSIQ.

Hon. Chiza, also signed Framework Agreement on the Project of Modern Agricultural industrialization Zone in the United Republic of Tanzania.  Signing on behalf of Chinese Government was Mr. ZHENG Zhihong, Chairman of the Board of Jiangsu Dahong Group.
 


Hon. Omar Yusuf Mzee (MP), Minister of State in the President’s Office, Responsible for Finance, Economic and Development Planning, Zanzibar signs the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.  

Hon. Mzee also signs the Exchange of Letters for China-Aided Abdullah Mzee Hospital Rehabilitation and Upgrading Project and the Exchange of Letters for Chinese Government Provision of a Set of Container Inspection Equipment to the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.  Signing on behalf of the Chinese Government is their Minister for Commerce.


Hon. William Mgimwa (MP), Minister for Finance signs the Agreement between the Governments of the People’s Republic of China and the United Republic of Tanzania Concerning the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments.  He also signs the  Agreement on Interest Free Loan from the Government of the People’s Republic of China to the  Government of the United Republic of Tanzania.  Signing on behalf of the People's Republic of China is their Minister for Commerce.

Hon. William Mgimwa (MP), Minister for Finance signs the Framework Agreement on the Strategic Partnership in Relation to the Development of Portside Industrial Zone and Seaport at the Bagamoyo Special Economic Zone in the United Republic of Tanzania.  Signing on behalf of the People's Republic of China is Dr. Fu Yuning, Chairman of the Board of Merchant Holdings.  Standing right is Mr. Ali Ubwa (Legal Unit) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Hon. Mgimwa also signed Loan Agreement between the Bank of Tanzania and China EXIM Bank concerning the National ICT Broad Infrastructure Project Phase III Sub-Phase 1.  Signing on behalf of the People's Republic of China was Mr. Sun Ping, Vice President of the EXIM Bank.


Hon. Mr. Gideon Nasari, CEO of NDC signs the Funding Support Agreement for Development Project in Tanzania.  Signing on behalf of the Chinese Government is Mr. Jiang Jianqing, Chairman of the Board of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC).  Standing right is Mr. Ali Ubwa, Foreign Service Officer (Legal Unit) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

President Kikwete welcomes China's President to the State House



Welcome to the State House, President Xi Jinping!

H.E. Hundreds of people gathered on the yards of the State House earlier today, anxiously waiting to welcome President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China during his two-day State Visit in Tanzania.

H.E. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, President of the United Republic of Tanzania together with his counterpart President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China wave to the crowd (not in the photo) upon President Xi's arrival in the State House this evening.  President Xi Jinping is in the country for a two-day State Visit, where he is scheduled to to officiate the formal hand over ceremony of the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC), which was built by the Chinese Government and thereafter he will participate in a lay of a wreath ceremony at the Chinese Experts Cemetery at Majohe Village in Ukonga, Dar es Salaam. Thereafter, President Xi Jinping is expected to travel to South Africa on Monday evening 25 March 2013, upon the end of his State Visit here in Tanzania.

Rais Xi Jinping wa China awasili nchini kwa ziara ya siku mbili



Rais wa China, Mhe. Xi Jinping na mke wake wakiteremka kwenye ndege mara baada ya kuwasili kwenye Uwanja wa Ndege wa Kimataifa wa Julius Nyerere Jijini Dar es Salaam kwa Ziara ya Kitaifa ya siku mbili hapa nchini.
