FAREWELL SPEECH BY H.E. BERNARD KAMILLIUS MEMBE (MP), MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL CO-OPERATION OF THE UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA IN HONOUR OF H.E HANI ABDULLAH MOMINAH, THE OUTGOING AMBASSADOR OF THE ROYAL KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA,

Your Excellency Hani Abdullah Mominah, Ambassador of the Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,

Your Excellency Juma Alfani Mpango, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps,

Your Excellency Dr. Nasri AbuJaish, Ambassador of Palestine and Dean of Arab Diplomatic Corps,

Your Excellences,

Ladies and Gentlemen.

I am humbled to welcome you all to this important occasion. We are here to say goodbye to our dear friend, a brother and a colleague, His Excellency HANI ABDULLAH MOMINAH, the out-going Ambassador of the Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  Saying goodbye has never been an easy task, however, it is a wise tradition perhaps more so in the diplomatic world.

  

Indeed, we may be separated by time and distance, but nothing will diminish our appreciation to Ambassador Mominah’s strong devotion in the promotion of the cordial relations that exist between our two governments.

Ambassador Mominah, You are the one who developed and cemented the truly and brotherly relationship between our two countries by shaping the new era of our diplomatic relations. We really thank you for your tireless hard work in enhancing the relationship between the two countries.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Tanzania is vested with massive fertile land for Agriculture and Livestock, this is to say, Tanzania can be a hub for Food Security in the Arab World, I humbly request Your Excellency Hani Abdullah Mominah to be a goodwill Ambassador to the business community in Saudi Arabia to enable them to acquire reliable information concerning investments on Agribusiness.

Furthermore, the Saudi Arabia through its Saudi Funds for Development has played a great and vital role towards development of our country in various sectors which includes the funding of Korogwe – Mwanga – Same Project and roads construction projects in Zanzibar.

Your Excellences,

The Government is overwhelmingly happy for the efforts taken by both countries to finalise the important Agreements in the Fighting against Crime and General Agreement on Economic, Trade, Investments, Technical, Youth and Sports. The Finalisation of these Bilateral Agreements will give pace to new ventures of cooperation between the two countries. We are eager to ink these important agreements as soon as it is convenient. I intend to visit Saudi Arabia for conclusion of these agreements.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

On behalf of the Government and the People of Tanzania, I thank you again for the exemplary work you have done during your tour of duty in Tanzania, for your efforts in understanding Tanzania’s situation as well as for all the projects that you initiated and oversee their conclusion.

These important landmarks have laid the ground work for long-term gains in our partnership, and you will always be remembered through those projects as they yield fruits for many years to come.

Finally, I would like to reassure you that the United Republic of Tanzania will continue to extend full support and cooperation to your successor in the same spirit of brotherhood and friendship our two countries have so far cultivated.

Allow me to use this moment on behalf of the Government and the People of the United Republic of Tanzania – to say goodbye to H.E. Hani Abdullah Mominah, the outgoing Ambassador of the Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Tanzania.  I wish you safe journey to your new assignments in Bosnia, continued good health and May Allah give you courage and vision and success as you take up your new assignment. Indeed, through you we now have a strong point of contact with Saudi Arabia.
