Foreign Permanent Secretary Discusses Climate Change with The Elders

African countries are urged to take the leading role and owning the process of mitigating climate change since it affects them the most. The message was given by Ambassador Liberata Mulamula, Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary while discussing preparedness level of African countries in dealing with global issue of climate change at the breakfast with The Elders in New York. 

The meeting which was held at the margins of the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly was aimed at triggering conversation from African countries and Island States on the action to be taken into consideration at the Conference on Climate Change to be held at Paris end of 2015. 

"Tanzania expects to see agreements that have taken into consideration elements of mitigation, adoptation as well as financing" Said Mulamula. 

She added that African countries who are mostly afftected by the climate change should own the process, preparing tirelessly as well as giving education to its population on the importance of protecting the environment.

The Elders is an independent group of global leaders who work together for peace and human rights. They were brought together in 2007 by Nelson Mandela.
