President Kikwete hosts the UN Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Region


H.E. President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete of the United Republic of Tanzania welcomes Ms. Mary Robinson, Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General for the Great Lakes Region during their meeting today at the State House in Dar es Salaam. 

President Kikwete expresses his appreciation of the Envoy's tireless efforts and dedication in building peace and security in the Great Lakes Region, particularly, in the DRC.  Further to their discussion, Ms. Robinson personally extended her condolences to the Government of Tanzania as well as the families of the fallen Tanzania members of the Force Intervention Brigade (FIB).

Minister Membe holds talks with the UN Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Region


Hon. Bernard K. Membe (MP), Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation in a photo with Ms. Mary Robinson, Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General for the Great Lakes Region during their meeting at his office today.

Hon. Bernard K. Membe (MP), Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation holds talks with Ms. Mary Robinson, Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General for the Great Lakes Region who had paid a courtesy visit today in his office in Dar es Salaam.  During their discussion, Ms. Robinson praised Tanzania for her role in securing peace and security in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo –DRC.


Minister Membe and Ms. Robinson, who is also a former President of the Republic of Ireland, continue with discussion about the latest developments and the ongoing efforts to implement peace, security and cooperation (PSC) framework for the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo –DRC and the region.

H.E. President Kikwete meets with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi


H.E. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete (left), President of the United Republic of Tanzania gets welcomed by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates His Highness Shaikh Gen. Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.  President Kikwete had paid a courtesy visit to the Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi on the 18th of November, 2013.

Kuwait kuzipatia nchi za Afrika mikopo ya masharti nafuu yenye thamani ya Dola bilioni moja, Amir

Serikali ya kuwait imetenga kiasi cha Dola za Marekani bilioni moja (1) kwa ajili ya kuzipatia nchi za Afrika mikopo ya masharti nafuu katika kipindi cha miaka mitano ijayo. Tangazo hilo lililotolewa na Amir wa Kuwait ambaye pia ni Mwenyekiti wa Mkutano wa Tatu wa Wakuu wa Nchi na Serikali wa Ushirikiano baina ya Nchi za Afrika na Kiarabu (Third Afro Arab Summit), Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahnad Al-Sabah wakati alipokuwa anatoa hotuba ya ufunguzi ya mkutano huo nchini Kuwait siku ya Jumanne tarehe 19 Novemba, 2013.

Sanjari na kiasi hicho cha fedha, Sheikh Al-Sabah alitangaza kiasi kingine cha Dola za Marekani milioni moja (1) kwa ajili ya kufadhili shughuli mbalimbali za utafiti zenye lengo la kuibua fursa za maendeleo katika nchi za Afrika.

 
Sheikh Al- Sabah aliwambia wajumbe wa mkutano huo kuwa, Mkutano wa Tatu wa Afro Arab Summit unafanyika huku nchi nyingi za Afrika na Kiarabu zikikabiliwa na changamoto za kisiasa na kiuchumi ambazo bila kupatiwa ufumbuzi wa kudumu malengo yanaayowekwa katika mikutano hiyo hayatafikiwa. Alisisitiza nchi za Afrika na Kiarabu kuwekeza katika miradi itakayoimarisha ushirikiano wao akitolea mfano wa sekta ya kilimo. “Endapo usalama wa chakula hautakuwa wa kuaminika katika nchi za Afrika na Kiarabu, kutazifanya nchi hizo kuwa katika hali tete na hatimaye kushindwa kukidhi matarajio ya wananchi wao. Sheikh Al-Sabah alisikika akisema.

 
Aidha, Amir wa Kuwait aliwaomba Wakuu wa Nchi kutumia mkutano huo kutafuta suluhu ya kudumu ya mgogoro unaoendelea nchini Syria ambao athari zake unaikumba kanda nzima ya Kiarabu. Alihitimisha hotuba yake kwa kulitolea wito Baraza la Usalama la Umoja wa Mataifa kuishinikiza Israel itekeleze Maazimio ya Umoja wa Mataifa kuhusu Mamlaka ya Palestina.

 
Kwa upande wake, Mwenyekiti mwenza wa mkutano huo, Waziri Mkuu wa Ethiopia, Mhe. Hailemariam Dessalegn alieleza kuwa nchi za Afrika haziwezi kufikia mapinduzi ya kijani endapo hakutawekwa mkazo katika sekta za nishati jadilifu, miundombinu na utalii. Hivyo, alisisitiza umuhimu wa mkutano huo kubuni mwongozo makini wa ushirikiano utakaowezesha kufikiwa kwa malengo hayo.  

 

Mhe. Dessalegn alizihimiza nchi za Afrika na Kiarabu kuongeza nguvu mara dufu katika mapambano dhidi ya uharifu wa mipakani, ugaidi, uharamia pamoja na uhamaji wa kinyume cha sheria. Aliweka angalizo kuhusu tatizo la uhamaji kwa kusema kuwa endapo halitafanyiwa kazi vizuri linaweza kudhoofisha ushirikiano huo. Hivyo, aliunga mkono pendekezo la kuunda Kamati ya Pamoja ya Wataalamu kutoka nchi za Afrika na Kiarabu ili kulitafutia ufumbuzi tatizo hilo.

 

Mwenyekiti wa Kamisheni ya Umoja wa Afrika, Mhe. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma naye aliwahakikishia Wakuu wa Nchi katika mkutano huo kuwa, Afrika imejizatiti kutekeleza yale yote mazuri yatakayoafikiwa katika mkutano huo. Aidha, alihimiza umuhimu wa kuwekeza katika elimu ili idadi kubwa ya vijana ambao ndio nguvu kazi na wanawake ambao ni zaidi ya nusu katika nchi za Afrika wapate elimu bora inayoendana na madadiliko yanayotokea duniani hivi sasa.

 

Ujumbe wa Tanzania katika mkutano huo unaongozwa na Dkt. Mohamed Gharib Bilal, Makamu wa Rais ambaye pia amepangiwa kutoa hotuba.

 
Makamu wa Rais wa Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania, Mhe. Dkt. Mohamed Gharib Bilal wa pili kutoka kushoto akisikiliza ahadi ya Amir wa Kuwait ya kuzikopesha  nchi za Afrika Dola za Marekani biliomni moja.


Balozi wa Tanzania nchini Saudi Arabia, Mhe. Prof. Abdillah Omar wa kwanza kushoto, Mbunge wa Wawi, Mhe. Ahmadi Rashidi na Mbunge wa Gando, Mhe. Khalifa Khalifa nao walishuhudia ahadi ya Amir wa Kuwait.
