Minister Membe holds talks with the UN Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Region


Hon. Bernard K. Membe (MP), Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation in a photo with Ms. Mary Robinson, Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General for the Great Lakes Region during their meeting at his office today.

Hon. Bernard K. Membe (MP), Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation holds talks with Ms. Mary Robinson, Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General for the Great Lakes Region who had paid a courtesy visit today in his office in Dar es Salaam.  During their discussion, Ms. Robinson praised Tanzania for her role in securing peace and security in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo –DRC.


Minister Membe and Ms. Robinson, who is also a former President of the Republic of Ireland, continue with discussion about the latest developments and the ongoing efforts to implement peace, security and cooperation (PSC) framework for the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo –DRC and the region. 

Minister Membe's delegation included Hon. Mahadhi Juma Maalim (MP) (left), Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, Ambassador Dora Msechu (center), Acting Permanent Secretary and the Director of the Department of Europe and Americas and Mr. Miyaye, Acting Director of the Department of Regional Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Listening on are Ms. Robinson's delegation that included Mr. Modibo Toure, Senior Advisor to the Special Envoy of the UNSG for the Great Lakes Region, Dr. Alberic Kacou (center), the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Tanzania, and Mr. Fode Said Conde, Special Assistant to the Special Envoy of the UNSG for the Great Lakes Region.
