President Kikwete hosts the UN Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Region


H.E. President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete of the United Republic of Tanzania welcomes Ms. Mary Robinson, Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General for the Great Lakes Region during their meeting today at the State House in Dar es Salaam. 

President Kikwete expresses his appreciation of the Envoy's tireless efforts and dedication in building peace and security in the Great Lakes Region, particularly, in the DRC.  Further to their discussion, Ms. Robinson personally extended her condolences to the Government of Tanzania as well as the families of the fallen Tanzania members of the Force Intervention Brigade (FIB). 

Listening on to the discussion is Hon. Bernard K. Membe (MP) (left), Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, Ambassador Dora Msechu (center), Acting Permanent Secretary and Director of the Department of Europe and Americas in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  Also in the photo is Mr. Miyaye (right), Acting Director of the Department of Regional Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
