Press Release

H.E. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, President of the United Republic of Tanzania has sent a congratulatory message to H.E.  Macky SALL, President of the Republic of Senegal, following the swearing in to the office that took place on 2nd April, 2012.  The message reads as follows:

“His Excellency Macky Sally
President of the Republic of Senegal
DAKAR

Your Excellency and Dear Brother,

I have received with great pleasure the news of your swearing in as the new President of the Republic of Senegal, following your landslide victory during  the  second  run-off  Presidential  election  that  was  held  on 25th March, 2012.

On behalf of the Government and People of the United Republic of Tanzania, I would like therefore to extend to Your Excellency our profound and heartfelt congratulations for being sworn into office to assume the Presidency of your great country.  This is a clear testimony of the confidence reposed in you and your party by the people of the Republic of Senegal.  Also, it is a clear testimony of the maturity of democracy by the people of the Republic of Senegal and thus making Senegal to be hailed as one of Africa’s model democracies.

As you embark upon your new responsibilities of that high office, I look forward to working closely with you and the Government of the Republic of Senegal to further promote the bilateral relations that so-happily exist between our two countries, for the mutual benefit of our people.

I also look forward to working closely with you in the framework of the African Union and the United Nations in our common endeavour towards achieving economic and social prosperity not only for the people of our two countries but also for the people of the continent, as a whole.

While wishing you continued good health and success in your new responsibilities, please accept, Your Excellency and Dear Brother, the assurances of my highest consideration”.
