Mozambique will host the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) from August 17 to 18, 2012 in the Capital City of Maputo.
The gathering will discuss the grouping's regional integration, progress made so far in social, cultural, political and economic sectors.
Other issues include the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the political crisis in Madagascar as well as progress made so far by the power sharing government in Zimbabwe.
The SADC Heads of State and government will praise the European Union's decision to lift sanctions against Zimbabwe, which were hampering economic development.
According to Radio Mozambique, the Maputo gathering will culminate with the handing over of the SADC chairmanship to Mozambique.
The 32nd summit is to be held 28 days after the holding of a summit of heads of state and government of the Portuguese Speaking Community (CPLP) also in Maputo.
SADC member states are Mozambique, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, South Africa, Madagascar, the Mauritius, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Namibia, Malawi, Botswana, Lesotho and Tanzania.
