The Government has promised to ensure success of the Smart Partnership Dialogue for the benefit of the country and its partners.
The Chief Secretary, Ambassador Ombeni Sefue, told a news conference in Dar es Salaam recently that preparations of the International Smart Partnership Dialogue scheduled in May, this year in Dar es Salaam were going on well. "We are doing a lot to make sure that the dialogue is held and concluded successfully," he said.
He said that the government was working closely with countries that have had earlier hosted a similar meeting to get their experience and learn from them.
The main objective of Smart Partnership Dialogue is to enhance the government's engagement with all sectors in enhancing information, knowledge and expertise in finding solutions to sustainable development challenges.
The theme for the Global 2013 Smart Partnership Dialogue is 'Leveraging Technology for Africa's Socio-Economic Transformation :The Smart Partnership Way'.
The Smart Partnership International Dialogues are held once every two years between Malaysia and countries in Southern Africa and are jointly organised by the Commonwealth Partnership for Technology Management (CPTM) and the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT).
Tanzania National Business Council (TNBC) has been designated as the hub for Smart Partnership Dialogue and has been tasked to undertake the National Smart Partnership Dialogue, commencing from the District, Regional up to National level in January 2013; as a stepping stone to the International Smart Partnership Dialogue.
Ambassador Sefue who also doubles as the Chairman of the TNBC Executive Committee said that the government also works with experts in and outside the country to make sure that the theme on the role of technology in attaining fast social economic development as chosen by President Jakaya Kikwete succeeds.
He said that as a country, Tanzania has set herself to make the dialogue a success for the benefit of the people of Tanzania and nation at large. He said TNBC as an avenue for connecting the government and the private sector has a lot of experience in coordinating such dialogues and was sure that the council will perform better in this particular job.
The dialogue is a brainchild of the Commonwealth Partnership for Technology Management. It creates a platform for key decision makers in both public and private sectors from various countries to come together and look for solutions to social and economic problems bedevilling their nations.
